Here is a short video that I just released, showing some highlights of a freight train journey that I took across Canada. I rode trains for more than 4000 KM over 5 days and nights with a friend of mine. Started the trip just north of Toronto and ended in Vancouver on the west coast.

I have made this trip (both east bound and west bound) 4 times before, and have years of experience hopping freight trains all over Canada.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Loved it!

Welcome to the forums, McVast! I am in fact completely rebuilding them and the new versions should be live in the next few days after which I plan on getting them going again.

How much footage do you have altogether? Are you going to be releasing more?

One day I want to ride freights with a hot girl. In fact I'd like to have sex on top of a speeding freight car, though I have a feeling it wouldn't be as fun as I imagine. Still, I want to do it, just to be able to say that I did it. And if that means hooking up with some toothless, stinkin' hobo called Joe then I'll do it, damn it!

PS: Bonus points for the Aphex Twin tshirt :)

Glad you enjoyed!

I have hours of footage every step of the way from an hour north of Toronto all the way to Vancouver. I do plan to release more, this was just kind of a concise teaser video. I've been riding between Toronto and Vancouver almost every summer since I was 19 and I am now 25 but I'm just getting into making movies. I got loads of ideas and I'll likely ride out again this summer with my GoPro

I like having sex on freight trains...Ive even done it on top of a speeding engine lol ;)

Nice one! Though I can imagine being on the roof of a car, getting down and dirty, then looking up and seeing a tunnel 30 seconds ahead. Shiiiiit!

If I get lucky on a train then you can bet your bottom dollar it's making it to the final cut of the video. Haha. Tastefully censored, of course, so YouTube doesn't come down on me like a ton of bricks.

So how do you know which trains are going where? Is it all about waiting at the right exits of the yards, or is it more complex than that? How do you know you won't end up in Prince Rupert rather than Vancouver?

Oh yeah, another question. What camera do you use? I love how clear it is and that it shoots in lowish light really well.

@mcvast. Where abouts in Toronto did you catch out from just out of curiosity? Do you have any preferred catch out spots in that area?
