hello all, think im pretty much set for my first snowdon wild camp for in a couple weeks, all gear in check and location sorted but i was just wondering if theres any unwritten etiquette for wild campers? for example any time restraints for actually setting up camp or if i arrive at my chosen location and theres already someone there is it cool to just try and set up out of each others way? ive decided to camp at llyn glas at the bottom of crib goch, cheers all

apologies if this as all been gone over before.

Hi Chris!

I can't think of any unwritten rules other than "Don't leave a mess" :P

Time restraints? Well, setting up before it's nightfall is usually a good idea but it's not like it'll affect anyone other than yourself.

And I highly doubt that there will be someone else camping where you plan to be but even if there was, Llyn Glas is a pretty big place so I think you'll find a secondary camping spot.

Have fun!

I've spent many seasons in Snowdonia and wild camped many times. (Just missed you Dave in March, remember!). Strictly speaking camping is not allowed as it is a national park, but, if done sensitively it is tolerated. As long as you move away from the beaten track & seek a bit of solitude, which I guess you will do anyway, and not intrude on anyone else's enjoyment of the area, you will be fine. I always camp with the mantra of "Leave No Trace".

Exactly! If you do something and it doesn't affect anyone else in any way, either at the time or in the future then it's as good as having never happened. Except you did do it and you had fun doing it. So everyone's a winner!
