I am planning on freight hopping to Dallas. I have experience with rural living/backpacking just not much in hitchhiking or urban backpacking/survival. How do I not get caught in a yard during the day? How do I know I am on the right train? How not get caught by a bull? How do I find the right train to ride? Also I would appreciate if I could get some help with route planning. Im going from San Jose, CA to Dallas,TX.

I think you should do some more research. All your questions are answered in some way or another on many blogs, forums and videos. Not get caught in the yard? Stay hidden, don't ride through main yards, especially if your train is at its destination. Well if your catching from a spot/yard where it could be going to multiple places then you need to have an idea of where the trains are going from that area..a trackside guide can help you with that. And a scanner. Not get caught by the bull...kind of self explanatory. We can't hold your hand for you unfortunately. Good luck
