"After an amazing day out on Crib Goch with Dave a month earlier I found myself at the base of Tryfan on a Saturday morning, once again with Dave leading the way.

I was feeling confident and was really up for Tryfan, and within about 15 minutes we had hand on rock. Conditions were pretty good to start with and Dave had clearly got a feel for my adventure levels from Crib Goch. He obviously knows the mountain well so we got into some decent scrambles which pushed me nicely, with Dave guiding me through the more gnarly parts.

As an adult who embraces and seeks adventure I like the fact Dave is really good at letting me paddle in the adrenaline pool, letting me wade in it up to my waist on Bristly Ridge, but never ever letting me get out of my depth. Tryfan was really good and gnarly here and there, but Bristly was where the real excitement was, especially in in three or four places. Dave kept me safe at all times while I occasionally went to the edges of my comfort zone, which of course was precisely what I signed up for in the first place!

It's interesting to note that Dave was continually assessing the more gnarly parts and always suggesting different routes and discussing what I would like to try or not. We did Tryfan, Bristly Ridge, Glyder Fach in total mist which then cleared as we came down Y Gribin. The last 90 minutes we came down in the dark on head torches which just added to a great day out.

I am always happy to pay for quality but won't pay through the nose if I can help it. We started at 9.10 hrs and finished over 11 hours later at 8.15 in the evening. That's a day out with top value!

I'm going to return to Bristly Ridge with Dave as soon as I can in order to nail those moves I couldn't do this time!

If you've watched Dave's videos then let me tell you, what you see is what you get! If you think you'll get on with Dave from watching his vids then you will! It's like having a day out with a good mate. But a mate I know could get a 10 year old up and down the mountain safely but who is equally at home with folk like me who want some adventure. Whether you're a complete novice or a seasoned mountain person, just book him!"

"I have been watching Dave’s mountain videos for a few years now. Always entertaining. So, I was getting itchy to do something to replace my Covid-abandoned Mount Blanc plans. "Crib Goch" I thought. "And I’ll hire Dave".

Good decision! You get a feel for someone when they put themselves on Youtube and I thought we saw stuff in much the same way. I was concerned though, that being a Sunday it would be crowded. Dave told me that we would go up and not meet many folk on the way up as we wouldn’t be using the Pyg track from Pen-Y-Pass. Tougher route up for sure but much more interesting and fun. And it was all of that.

So we cracked on. It was silly windy but Dave reassured me that the route was perfectly doable. And he was right! We set out in the rain and it was straight into the fun. I’m reasonably fit for 57 and spend a lot of time in the Brecons but was carrying some niggling injuries. No issue, we went at my pace and slowed down when the steep ground and rock needed concentration. There was no pressure to go beyond my capabilities.

We got our reward for chancing it alright. Twice! Firstly we didn't see a single other person all day. Nice! And secondly, just on the North Ridge the clouds parted, the rain stopped and the sun beamed out while the ridiculous wind threw the clouds around like smoke from a raging fire. We looked at each other and just laughed with pure joy. The wind added a serious edge to the more technical bits but Dave saw me through the odd awkward one. And the extra adrenaline was a major bonus. No one else fancied it in that wind but it was so worth it.

Top day out and around 9 hours in all. Tired and very happy. I've already booked to do Tryfan circuit next!"

"I absolutely love hiking and Snowdon has been a favourite for a while now but I've always had a lack of confidence when it came to scrambling . Whenever I've done it in the past I would always get freaked out, start panicking and on one occasion I even started crying!

However I wanted to face my fear of scrambling and push myself to go up Snowdon via Crib Goch. I started watching videos of people filming on Crib Goch and that's how I came across Dave's YouTube channel. After watching several of Dave's videos I knew this would be the guy to lead me across the ridge!

We met in the valley and took a lovely, quiet route up to the North Ridge. The views were amazing and there was no one around which made it even better. It was great to chat to Dave on the way up and get to know each other a little better. We also did some great scrambling on the way up. Dave was incredibly patient and showed me where best to place my hands and feet when I wasn't sure. That initial scramble gave me a boost of confidence and also confirmed 100% that I had the right mountain leader taking me up to the ridge. Dave was really great at checking in, making sure we stopped to refuel, and if I was starting to panic a little he helped me through it, sometimes pulling me up so I felt more secure.

We eventually came to the North Ridge which was a fantastic scramble and again helped build my confidence. When we got to Crib Goch the wind had picked up and this made me a little more nervous. This didn't matter though as Dave was fantastic at guiding me along the ridge, taking our time and being incredibly supportive, even when I kept trying to hunch my body in to a ball instead of keeping me arms and legs stretched out, which I finally learnt made it a lot easier to scramble!

Before I knew we were off the ridge and heading to the pinnacles and Garnedd Ugain. Once again Dave was fantastic leading me across the pinnacles and through a great variety of scrambling, often helping me down when I couldn't see where to place my feet. I always felt incredibly safe with Dave and it was fantastic hearing about his experiences up and around Snowdonia. Once we reached the summit of Snowdon the wind had really picked up and the visibility wasn't great, so we decided to head back down via the Miners Path. I really appreciated that Dave gave me various options for different route on the way back down and left it up to me before we went back down the Miners.

By the time we got back to the car, just before 5pm, I was shattered but absolutely buzzing from the whole experience. The day was better than I could have even imagined and Dave was a fantastic guide and a really great laugh throughout the whole day. He really does know Crib Goch (and the rest of Snowdon) like the back of his hand. He was an absolute professional and safety was always number one priority but at the same time he really helped push me out of my comfort zone (which it what I really wanted to do).

I would hire him again in a heartbeat and have already spoken to loved ones about hiring him, as it was worth every penny!!

Thank you Dave, I think I've now got the scrambling bug :)"

"I've wanted to go up Tryfan and Bristly Ridge for a while now but always been worried about doing it on my own, so I went and booked Dave to guide me up there.

I couldn't have been happier with how things went, and my early morning doubts about whether I'd even be able to get up Tryfan were blown away as Dave led me up some awesome routes, the highlight being the awesome ascent of Bristly Ridge... easily one of the most amazing things I've done in my life. My adrenaline was certainly pumping once we got to the top of Glyder Fach.

Dave always made sure I was safe, and explained how to tackle some of the more tricky scrambling on Bristly Ridge particularly. I certainly couldn't have done what I did without him, so if you are looking for a tough, exciting and totally fulfilling scramble up a mountain or two, book Dave!"

"I'm 56 years old and a late starter to climbing and walking. I walked the Watkins Path up to Snowdon a few months back and wanted to do something a bit more challenging, and really wanted to do Crib Goch and Tryfan but I didn't have the confidence or knowledge to attempt them myself. I saw Dave's videos on YouTube and I was immediately impressed! I don't want to big him up too much otherwise he'll never get his GoPro over his head again but his videos were awe inspiring. They were way better than any guide book.he takes you up a route step by step filming the points to be aware of/the difficult bits/the easy bits and you can tell that he genuinely loves what he does. At first glance some of his videos seem to border on the reckless (eg Bryant's Gully) but he clearly makes a well calculated risk assessment of everything he does and makes it enjoyable and fun.

The first day I met Dave he took me up a route to Crib Goch that clearly nobody else knew about as we saw no other people for hours, and were well away from the busy paths of Snowdon. Also this meant we didn't have to pay the £10 parking fee for the Pen-y-Pass car park. The whole time I could tell that Dave was (quite rightly) gauging my abilities and limits. He puts safety as a number one priority. At 56 I've got nothing to lose so I was keen to try some of the steeper and more challenging scrambles under Dave's watchful eye. He managed to get me safely across Crib Goch as well as several other bonus scrambles, and I really felt I had made the wisest decision of my life hiring Dave to get me there.

We had an amazing and very full day (so be prepared and make sure you're fit before you go because it really does help), eventually completing the entire Snowdon Horseshoe that day, an added bonus. By the way Dave doesn't clock out at 5pm and head off home like we do at work. No, the day ends when it ends, usually with the sun going down and feeling exhausted but totally fulfilled. I think we got back to our cars at about 8pm, so that was 11 hours of walking. Depressingly for me Dave doesn't even get tired!

The following day Dave guided me up Tryfan then across and up Bristly Ridge and the Glyders. This was a climb I would never have attempted on my own and was glad to have Dave's expertise and reassurance. We got to Adam and Eve but despite Dave's encouragement and support I'm ashamed to say I just could not make that leap of faith, a good excuse to come back on another one of Dave's Big Day Out adventures and try it again! It looks easy but what you don't see in all the videos and photos is the sheer slopes on the other side of the two rocks. Just to add insult to injury Dave was leaping backwards and forwards on Adam and Eve most of the afternoon making it all look ridiculously easy!

I'm reminded at this point to add that Dave is a great conversationalist (is that how you spell it? In other words he talks a lot). He can talk about any subject for hours and we had many interesting chats/arguments throughout both days. Within minutes of meeting Dave you feel like you've known him for years. Dave is especially knowledgeable about road tarmac (private joke) but don't get him on the subject of Donald Trump or American politics. You have been warned!! Oh, and hide any spare food you might have around, he has the appetite of a large gannet! I lost most of my Honey Nut Shreddies on day 2!

Bristly Ridge and Sinister Gully were quite a challenge for me, especially when you get to the top, look back down and realise the sheer height you've gained, but it was so rewarding to know I'd done it. I wanted to get a photo of the Cantilever Rock and it was at that point that the cloud descended. It was so disorientating and would have been pretty scary if I'd been on my own but Dave knew exactly where he was and calmly navigated us to the Cantilever then down to where we started. He even threw in a lesson on map reading and using a compass. A fantastic day out!

In summary then... I can't praise Dave highly enough! I had complete trust and confidence in his abilities. I really liked the way he was in control and conscious of all aspects of safety while remaining calm and relaxed and always cheerful. I would, without hesitation, recommend you to use Dave as a guide if you're a novice hill climber (like me). His knowledge is invaluable and takes away the doubts or fears you might have and makes for a much more enjoyable day out. He is great value for money, although personally speaking I don't think you can put a price on the peace of mind of being guided professionally and safely, plus the memories (and photos) you take away with you after a day out with him, and not to mention the tips on road tarmac!! I will definitely be coming back to ask Dave to guide me up some more of the challenging climbs of Snowdonia as soon as I can get the time off from work!"
Danny
"I'd been wanting to get out into the mountains for a long time now but never had the confidence to do it alone, so after watching Dave's videos for a few years I went with the sensible option and booked him as a guide to take me round the Snowdon horseshoe and then a ton more scrambling. And my god, I'm glad I did!

I'd told Dave from the beginning that I wanted a challenge and a 14 hour day of scrambling certainly didn't disappoint! Dave was so knowledgeable and helpful, and gave me the confidence to attempt everything we came across. We smashed it all with big grins on our faces! Safety was always the top priority closely followed by having an awesome day out that you'll never forget.

It was so good it took me all of 4 days to book him again for a month's time :D

If you want to get out into the mountains then you need to get Dave booked as you definitely won't regret it. I cant rate him highly enough :)"
Paula
"My friend Nikki and I booked Brave Dave for a Big Day Out on and around Tryfan and Bristly Ridge. The weather on the day didn't start out great, and it was only towards the last two/three hours that the cloud lifted and the sun came out.

Dave looked after us throughout, making sure our safety was priority but also pushing us to our boundaries making sure we had a memorable, exciting and enjoyable day. At one point I got myself into a little pickle and the fear kicked in but Dave kept me calm, whilst helping me out of the predicament I was in. At certain parts of the climb Dave physically pulled me up over rocks that I couldn't quite reach and actually let me use him as a stepping stone even though I was covered in sheep crap! (sorry, Dave :D )

I was struggling half way through as fear got to me but we went at the pace I was comfortable with and even though Dave had plans for the evening and I made him very late, I felt no pressure to rush and try to go beyond what I was capable of. Dave lifted our spirits, was cracking jokes and told us lots of stories about his past journeys, which for me was just as much a major part of the day after being a huge fan of his YouTube channel for so long.

It was a truly memorable day, a memory I'll carry for a lifetime and worth absolutely every penny."
Nikki
"With a last minute Welsh 3000s attempt looming on the horizon, and being the only one of a party of two with (a) any sort of familiarity with Snowdonia (b) any idea of the proposed route and (c) a head for heights (a recipe for success I know) I thought I would try and limit the chances of either failure or death by hiring Dave for a mash up of partial route recce-ing and brushing up on rusty nav skills.

All booked in, the day before a thought crossed my mind that spending a good 10+ hours with someone you have never met could go either one of two ways; it could either be really awkward or it could be great fun. To my relief I realised pretty quickly that it was going to be the latter!

On the day itself, I had wanted to recce the direct route to Nant Peris from Crib Goch, cutting out Pen y Pass. With the Crib Goch ascent and descent via the north ridge nailed quicker than anticipated the afternoon took an unexpected turn when, on the way back down to the Llanberis Pass, we talked about getting up on to the Glyders. Dave suggested that we could get up via Bryant's Gully. It was either that or Elidir Fawr so of course I agreed! The next few hours consisted of the longest and most exciting scramble of my life, basically up 500 metres rocks, trickling waterfalls and scree before climbing out of the far end and up onto the south side of Glyder Fawr, running back down the other side. It was amazing. I wouldn't have attempted anything like this by myself (I probably wouldn't have even been able to find it, and if I had I'd probably still be up there now).

When I was originally thinking about booking a guide I wasn't sure it would be worth the money. I had this preconceived idea that it would only be worthwhile if you're a beginner or if you're particularly nervous about going out by yourself. If that's what you're thinking whilst reading this then you should know that I was so wrong! Whatever your ability or experience, if you want to go on an off the beaten track adventure and listen to mad stories all day whilst knowing that someone has your back then this is the day out for you."

"The worrying prospect of scrambling across Crib Goch had been hanging over us for sometime. Although my wife and I love hill walking, I don't have a great head for heights and she doesn't enjoy scrambling. Not a recipe for a great day out you might think, but we felt obliged to do it. Actually, we positively wanted to give it a shot. Why? Because Brave Dave is our son.

Within the family circle, you don't always see each other the same way that people do from the outside. The countless brilliant reviews on the Brave Dave website about his professionalism, skill, patience, sense of humour, etc, are impressive by any standard, but would these hold up under the strain of leading his retired mum and dad, plus his sister and her partner? Short answer: yes, they did hold up, totally. David was everything that others have praised him for. It is obvious that he has found something he loves doing and he does it really, really well. (Of course we're biased, so please just read all the other reviews which say this too.)

We approached Crib Goch via the North Ridge. Reaching the ridge involved some moderate scrambling, which David said he often uses to gauge the ability and level of confidence of each of his clients. This evaluation works both ways of course and by the time we were standing at the foot of the ridge I had decided I didn't want to go any further. David explained how we would tackle the scramble ahead and gently encouraged me to give it a go. He would lead me down to a bypass track if things didn't work out and would then take the rest of our family group across. I'm glad I listened to him rather than my inner voice.

Step by step, he led us up the ridge and onto Crib Goch itself, pointing out hand and footholds, and accompanying us individually over any bits we found tricky. When leaving us to lead the next person over he found sheltered corners where we could relax while waiting. His calm yet enthusiastic manner helped me to stay rational, as did thinking about the families with youngsters who regularly traverse Crib Goch without a care in the world. And then it was over!

We encountered some more exposed scrambles as we went on to complete the Snowdon Horseshoe, and that is when I found that my fear of heights had been tamed. From then on I could focus more on enjoying the magnificent scenery.

Thank you David for the intense experience and fantastic day out. Mum and I are really glad we did it. For sure, we couldn't have done it without you."

"A few months ago I decided that I wanted to climb Snowdon for charity. I was advised by charity organisers to hire a guide for my own safety as I had not climbed a mountain before. I got in contact with a few guides online but found Brave Dave's Guided Adventures to be the most suitable. Dave's website was informative, I got quick responses from him and he made me comfortable enough to book him.

The day finally arrived for our climb/trek/scramble. A Brave Dave Guided Adventure is definitely an adventure! I won't be climbing mountains very often so I wanted an experience to remember, and I will certainly remember this one! There were clouds and the wind was blowing quite hard but not once did I feel frightened or scared as I knew Brave Dave would keep us safe.

My husband has a fear of heights and when we reached the North Ridge he felt very uncomfortable with the exposure. With Brave Dave's advice and reassurance he was able to be led back down to the flat ground below, and bypass the North Ridge and Crib Goch itself. Dave then came back up to me on the North ridge and we continued on to the knife edge ridge.

Crib Goch isn't too bad once you're up on it but I definitely wouldn't have done it, or any of the rest of that route, without Brave Dave, following his advice and foot steps.

We finally reached the summit with tired legs which was a great feeling.

Book your adventure today! You won't regret it."
Adam
"I've always been a fan of Brave Dave's videos and so for Christmas my dad bought me a Brave Dave Guided Adventure. What an ace present! Dave even made a short Happy Christmas video to say hi!

I had to wait a while because the adventure was in May but it was well worth waiting for. We did Crib Goch (which I've wanted to do for a long time) and on the day it was raining a bit. I was actually pleased that the weather wasn't perfect because it made it all more exciting. Dave kept me safe the whole time, showing me exactly where and how to move over the wet rock. At no point did I feel unsafe which meant I could enjoy the full experience of being up there. We had the ridge to ourselves the entire time too!

Thanks Dave for a top day out and thanks dad for the thoughtful gift :)"
Joe and Simon
"Me and my mate Simon hired Brave Dave for another day of adventure because the one last year was so good. We knew that Dave would put something good together for us but we were still blown out the water!

We both agree that it was one of the toughest but best days of walking and scrambling we've ever done. Brave Dave did not disappoint! It's a good thing we trust him with our lives because there were moments when my fear of heights kicked in but Dave kept me focused and got me through each challenge one step at a time. Definitely wouldn't have ever done anything like this without Brave Dave leading the way.

Can't wait to see what he sorts out for us next time!!"
Andy
"I hiked Crib Goch and the Snowdon horseshoe with Dave in May of 2019. I'm a huge fan of Brave Dave's freight hopping saga on YouTube, which led me to his website. I could tell just by the type of gear he had on his freight hop that he was a seasoned outdoorsman.

I'd lived in the UK previously, but had never been to Wales or even heard of Snowdonia. It's incredible how something so unrelated like a train hopping video in Canada enabled me to discover an incredible and stunning part of the UK I otherwise may have never visited.

I have a fair bit of hiking experience living near the mountains of Southern California, but one thing I very much believe in is having a good guide when trekking unfamiliar backcountry. I can't recommend Brave Dave's Guided Adventures highly enough. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area, very wise when it comes to recommending what gear to bring, etc. The routes he chose were off the beaten track and provided an incredibly scenic and challenging day out on the hills. He's also just an all around good guy. Hilarious, down to earth, intelligent, the kind of person you could feel at ease with hiking a mountain.

Definitely organise a hike with Dave if you're in the UK. It's worth every penny!"
Jeremy
"I'm from the United States and had seen all of Dave's videos on Youtube. When I saw the Knife's Edge, I was drawn to experience it for myself. I was planning a vacation to Scotland so I reworked my trip to start in North Wales and booked a Brave Dave's Guided Adventure.

The weather was not working in our favor on the day of our hike. Visibility was poor and the rain mixed with wind was coming at us sideways. Despite the weather, I was still eager to climb Snowdon so it helped that Dave is so full of energy and knew how to keep me motivated.

Something worth mentioning is that Dave takes keeping you safe very seriously. As you move from grassy hills to scree slopes and start scrambling, he points out things to watch out for and walks you through every aspect of the hike. I had done some research before the hike-- I knew to stay dry and layer up. But I learned so much on my hike with Dave. Whether you are an experienced trekker that wants to do something a little more extreme or new to the sport like me, a trip with Dave will give you a crash course in the skills you need to hike and stay safe on the mountain.

On our way up, a muscle in my right knee seized up and it hurt to put any weight at all on the leg. Dave asked all the right questions to determine what exactly the problem was. He recommended a few stretches and the leg was back to normal in no time. The questions he asked and the way he handled that situation was very professional.

I tell people that if it wasn't for Dave, I would have given up 3x over while attempting Snowdon. Even though I was utterly exhausted by the end of the hike, we successfully did Crib Goch, Knife's Edge, and made it to the summit. I'm left with a major sense of accomplishment and fond memories of Snowdonia in which I had an amazing adventure. Thank you Dave for being an inspiration to all of us!!""
Dan, Jess, Stu and Chris
"Best thing we ever did! We would have died without Brave Dave leading us :D"
Sam
"My wife Rachel and I did a Brave Dave guided tour on Crib Goch. It was bloody amazing! Dave really knows his stuff and keeps you feeling safe but at the same time pushes you onwards.

There was one point half way across the ridge where we came across some younger ones who looked scared and were stuck on a tricky section. Dave quickly stepped in and calmed them by confidently showing them the right way, the charismatic bastard! We would never have done it without him guiding the way.

Do it! You get what you pay for in this world and a Brave Dave guided adventure is DEFINITELY worth paying for :D"
Richard
"We met Dave in the car park with the huge sword by the lake in Llanberis. 7 of us were doing the "Big Day Out". The fun began at the small bridge that has been in many of his videos. We climbed up, following the path at first. It was quite steep and I needed to rest many times. After a lot of scrambling and scree we got to the base of the North Ridge of Crib Goch.

This is what we had come for. Dave guided us across Crib Goch and it was fantastic and much easier that I thought it was going to be. This led us to Garnedd Ugain (Crib y Ddysgl) which had the most amazing views of a cloud inversion. From there we headed to the top. In total Dave guided us for 12 hours and the whole time he was very professional, a great leader and fun to be with. He spent time with every member of our group. We all had a fantastic time and were on a high for days afterwards. I thoroughly recommend doing this and will be doing it again myself."
Charles
"Dave was a wonderful guide - knowledgeable about Snowdon and the surrounding mountains, not to mention friendly and flexible.

As someone who has done some hill walking but has always shied away from scrambling, Dave helped me move confidently across more challenging terrain. He struck the perfect balance between encouraging me forward into places I wouldn't have gone on my own, while still being level headed and making sure I was perfectly safe and comfortable.

The initial climb up to the base of Crib Goch is a long climb over mostly grassy but steep ground - quite exhausting if you have a tent and a lot of water on your back! Despite my having to stop every 5 minutes to clear the sweat out of my glasses, Dave was patient and perfectly willing to wait for me to catch up. On the ridge itself Dave's experience meant that he was able to point out the easiest line across the rocks, which may not be always so obvious. This allowed me enjoy myself without having to worry about route-finding or whether I'm going to get myself into a situation where I'd have to call for help.

I would whole-heatedly recommend Dave to anyone looking for a exciting day out in the mountains."
Steve
"We would all like to give Dave a massive thank you for taking us on a guided adventure over the ridges on the Snowdon Range.

We hired Dave to lead us after finding his YouTube Channel and watching his videos on walking the ridges on Snowdon. Myself and "not so Brave" Dave had already climbed Crib Goch up to Snowdon summit albeit in horrible conditions but we never got to experience the exposed feeling due to zero visibility and vile weather so it had always been in our heads to do it again in clear weather. Grahame and Christian had climbed Ben Nevis several times but had never climbed Snowdon and felt they needed a challenge, so it was decided to arrange a walk up the North Ridge, across Crib Goch and then descending via Gribin Ridge - Cue Brave Dave's Adventures!!!

From the onset it was super easy to make the booking and Dave was very flexible in times and dates. Obviously we were desperate to get the "perfect" weather so initially had a large window of availability which we locked down to a Saturday in May and what a day!! Perfect climbing conditions, clear, dry and calm.

Throughout the hike Dave's professionalism and leadership qualities were on point. He had excellent knowledge of the area and installed us with the confidence we needed to complete the adventure. At no point were we pressurised to do anything we were not sure of, the pace set was our pace and stops were taken as and when needed.

The guided walk felt special because it was "our" walk, not a simple follow the leader style trek. What made it special for myself was the chance to relax, normally when we go hiking I lead and I am focused on the route, the group and the timings more than just taking in the fun side, so this guided walk made me feel spoiled rotten!

"Not so Brave" Dave conquered his demons after our first adventure up Crib Goch which really put him off trying it again, but "Real" Brave Dave and his relaxed leadership and confidence resolved this, so much so we want to go back again and just climb the ridge, chill on the top of the last pinnacle and then return back the way we came, swerving Snowdon altogether.

Grahame and Christian both wanted to challenge themselves as they had never scaled a ridge before. Talk about going in the deep end! Again Brave Dave's leadership, attitude and confidence came across and they got the experience and the challenge they were looking for.

All in all an AMAZING day out! Memories and photos to cherish, and a burning desire to return over and over again. So to Brave Dave from Steve, Dave, Grahame and Christian - Thank You mate! hope to meet you on the mountain!!"
Joe and Simon
"Me and my mate Simon hired Brave Dave to guide us around Snowdon. If any of you want to go up there then you should definitely hire this bloke. He is a top lad, very confident and an amazing leader. He's an excellent guide, knowing when to let you get on with it and encourages you when you're waning, leading from the front. I did so much that I don't think I would have done as I'm afraid of heights."
Tony and Joe
"With the help of Dave we got to experience Snowdon and even with the fog and rain we had an amazing time with stunning views of Snowdonia! Dave made us feel safe and enjoy a trip that could have been impacted by the weather conditions, especially as neither of us have ever climbed a mountain before. With Dave's guidance, we got to experience everything Snowdon had to offer including Crib Goch which was as exhilarating as it was frightening, and was only possible with Dave's calm and humorous guidance. Dave was the perfect guide with his positive attitude managing to uplift us in the 11-hour hike when the weather only preceded to get worse."
Mark and Rachel
"We are both reasonably fit and active people who love outdoor activities including kayaking, surfing and hiking. We enjoy our hikes but for some time have wanted to take on a bigger challenge. Crib Goch became that very challenge after watching Brave Dave's videos on YouTube. Intimidated by the prospect of taking on this Welsh beast, we asked asked Dave to be our guide (mainly because of our lack of experience, confidence and nervousness at taking on such a big challenge).

From the very start of the day Dave was full of life, enthusiasm, encouragement and motivation. We set out on our hike and before long we were scrambling up steep terrain as the mountain eerily loomed over us from the mist and low lying cloud above. Dave is an incredibly fit individual who could easily outpace us in this terrain but he was patient and moved at our pace throughout. We never felt under pressure but always felt safe.

As we climbed higher and higher we were met by the first big challenge of the day. This was a moment where we were both truly out of our comfort zones: the north ridge of Crib Goch. This was by far the biggest physical challenge of both our lives. We had every confidence in Dave as our guide. He worked with us individually as we moved slowly up and along the north ridge in challenging conditions. Reaching the top was such an achievement.

Next came the very reason we were out with Brave Dave- taking on Crib Goch itself. In wet, blustery conditions with poor visibility, we moved gingerly along Crib Goch sometimes on all fours. Traversing from rock to rock - up and down and along the rock. Upon reaching the other side the enormity of what we'd just achieved hit us. This was a massive achievement for two people who have to work at this physical stuff and for whom it doesn't come naturally.

Dave is a legend. We felt safe with Dave throughout the day. He encouraged us every step of the way and constantly supported us. We really want to do this again and would not hesitate in asking Dave."
James
"Brave Dave, a true gentleman explorer! Having only been on Snowdon once before, twenty years ago, I hired Dave to show me some of the more technical and lesser known routes around the Snowdon horseshoe.

Dave's encyclopaedic knowledge of the Snowdon range meant that from the initial ascent to our wild camp bivvy beneath Crib Goch's north ridge we had the whole mountain to ourselves. And an early start the next morning meant we caught one of the most spectacular sunrises I've had the pleasure of experiencing.

Dave is a great communicator, from pre-planning to our initial meeting Dave kept me informed making sure everything ran smoothly, from gauging my fitness and planning routes accordingly, ensuring I had the necessary kit with me to arranging when and where we could meet up and ensuring a full contingency plan should the weather not be in our favour. All this meant I had full confidence in Dave leading me off into the mist, or up a cliff with a hundred hundred metre drop to the side. I knew he knew where we were heading and I didn't have to think twice about it.

All told I had a great twenty hours camping, hiking, scrambling and rambling and I cannot wait for my return to this beautiful, exciting and fun mountain range."
