Hey guys!

This last weekend I traveled to North Wales for the first time with the intention of getting to the summit of Snowdon & possibly Tryfan via the North Face - We were staying at a site at the base of Tryfan so it made sense.

Drove straight from work on Friday to the bunkhouse, arrived at gone 10pm. Rubbish nights sleep - snoring person in the bunkhouse, I won't do that again haha. Got to sleep about 2am....

I was at Pen-Y-Pass car park for just before 7am and on my way up the Pyg track with a colleague and his girlfriend. It was pretty quiet, which I really liked. The place is just amazing. I've never seen such scenery in person. Plus it was my first time hiking.

Got to the summit, I was super happy - I'm not a small chap.... so it was a serious challenge for me. I'm trying to change myself somewhat though.

We gently came back down the miners track. With how I felt at the bottom I knew Tryfan was a pipe dream - decided to drive home (Mainly to avoid the bunk house snoring) and have a nice bath.

Sunday I woke up, aches, pains and somewhat sore..... but I am totally dying to go back as soon as I can. I'm in love with the place.

Found Daves videos while laying in bed Sunday night, looking at videos, wishing I was still there :(

Hey hey, Richie! Welcome to the site, mate. And I'm glad to hear that you've found a love for the mountains. It's never too late to start :P

The camp site you were staying at, was it the one a mile or two from Tryfan with the showers that work with a token system that costs 50p a time? If so then I was at the same one just a few days later. Yeah, I'd always choose camping over a shared bunk for the very reason that other people often snore (and I probably do as well, actually).

Well done for doing Snowdon and no worries with Tryfan. You've got that to work up towards! :)

PS: You seem to have has as good a view up Snowdon as we did on Saturday :P What time did you summit? We were there on the same day as you, but around 8pm (and then 12:30 the next day).

Hey!

No, the showers were free... It was literally at the foot of Tryfan. A tiny field between it and the base.

We got up there at about 9:50am. Was really quiet to start but my... Modest pace meant it was reasonably busy towards the top.

On the way back down it was very busy indeed but it was a beautiful day for it below the clouds.

I have a tremendous fear of heights..... But.... I really want to try crib goch. I think it would take me ages... But if I took my time and stayed focused in being careful I could do it. Wondering what I could try to kind of warm up for it. Any ideas?

I am seriously in love with the whole place.

Well if you feel like you'd be better off with a highly experienced guide to lead the way and make sure you're safe then let me know. Bonus points if you bring a friend. My prices are very reasonable ;)
