Anybody else up on Helvellyn Sat 26 Nov. Absolutely gorgeous, decent snow levels nicely consolidated, skiers, walkers and even cyclists all over the place. Went up Browncove Crags where the snow was solid and due to 'thinking' I had lost my phone and walking half a mile back down mountain and back up when someone called my number and I felt the thing buzz in my pocket, I had to cut the day short and just do an out an back but sat in the warm sun surrounded by like minded folk was simply bliss!

Hope you all did something similarly fantastic on such a beautiful day?

Lucky! I wasn't up any mountains on Saturday. Did you go along Striding Edge? That's cool that there were skiers up there. I saw photos of some people skiing near to Tryfan and the air looked so damn clear.

No I wimped out of driving over to that side so just up to Browncove Crags, lost my phone! walked back down and then realized it was in my pocket all along, IDIOT WOMAN! sat in the sun at the top it was beautiful. The air was very clear until a cold front moved in from the north but that just enhanced the scene as the mountains transformed into mean and moody. It is always busy up there both edges were packed as usual, thankfully with folk who appeared to know what they were doing for once or at least had the right equipment. The skiing is really popular as there is a ski lift on Raise. Get yourself up there, I never realized there was a ski lift there!, boarders people with those kite things (sorry I know there will be a proper name?).

What's your next big adventure then.

We always go away to the mountains at Christmas, Keswick this year (our cottage flooded last year yikes) fingers crossed we get snow for the first time during the Christmas week or at least cold and frosty as it is now.

Glad you didn't lose your phone! Don't fret about wasting time going to look for it. It's free exercise!!

I'm hopefully going to Snowdon in the near future, to play about in the snow. I need to get to the Lakes too. And Scotland. This is because I want to apply to do my Mountain Leader assessment in the new year and have to log 20 days of mountain walking before then, on a wide range of peaks and ranges. That's a fair bit of effort, especially in winter!

Good point well made!

I would love to do my mountain leader but just not sure I have the right sort of experience, I don't do massive amounts of scrambling at the min and have yet to wild camp though I am sure I could do it if I got my backside into gear.

If you want any ideas on walks in the Lakes, let me know the sort of thing you are looking for, I know the place extremely well!

I am scared of going to Scotland as I will then have to do the Munros and it is not quite as near as the Lakes for me. Resisted Wales for ages and now I am totally obsessed. On that note when will we see some new vids from you in Snowdonia. Particularly loved the 'litter rant', drives me nuts too.
