Are there any southern californian freight hoppers, or freight hoppers familiar with the SoCal scene, who could help me out? Id like to know the best catch out spots in the region and other pertinent information like crew change spots and where to avoid. Also if anyone has resources they'd be willing to share like official railway maps and schedules that would be awesome.

Lastly, if anyone doesn't have any information themselves but know someone who does, id appreciate if you could get me in touch with them.

Hey dude, im also based out of Socal (live near Ontario) and looking to go freight hopping. Here's a link to a railway map that shows a lot of the socal area www.openrailwaymap.org/ no schedules though. Really cool to find another freight hopper around here

Yes!! JHBW I need to find some people to start my freight hopping career within SoCal. I was just wondering where trains go the slowest because the slowest that open railway map shows where I I live (Dana Point) is 40 mph and I don't think that's possible. Although there are a lot of sharp elbows and I heard that trains go slower around those. Lastly, what is the fastest speed a train can go and still be hopped without ripping my arm off? Thanks

The safest speed to bail and catch on the fly would be about 5 mph tops, that's usually the fastest speed an average human can run. Anything faster than 5 increases risk of injury/death.
