Hi,

Watched plenty of Dave's videos which gave me and a friend the push to start visiting mountains from late last year.
Just did the Bochlwyd Horseshoe on my own yesterday(friend was ill), stopped in my campervan Saturday night and started 7:00am Sunday. It was probably one of the most exciting days of my life safely say I am addicted!

Will be sticking around, speak to you all soon.

Thanks Dave!

Nice one, Chris! That's great that you've started getting into mountain hiking. And you've got a camper too! What sort is it? That's something I've wanted to get for a few years now. I'd like a transit van converted into a camper, custom designed with loads of cool space-saving and tech gadgets. Still just a dream at the moment though...

Here's a pic from early Sunday morning in the layby at the bottom of Tryfan. It's a T5, my other half has took it to her sisters, will post a few pics soon.

I pulled into the layby at 10.15pm Saturday night, opened the side door with a coffee looking up at a star studded sky with Tryfan silhouetted in the background thinking WTF am I doing here. Best day ever on my own...

Mate, I'm genuinely envious. That's like my dream. To just drive anywhere I want, park up with whatever view I want and have a base with everything I need to then go off and do whatever I want in the mountains.

And days alone are under-rated! I love 'em!

Welcome Chris. Nice camper, very envious. You said about pulling up under a star studded sky, that's one of my best memories of the place. Dave was running late for our catch up, so I was parked up in the middle of the peaks, laying on my windscreen/bonnet on a warm 2am. I was just bewildered by the clarity of the night sky and the milky way band stretching horizon to horizon. Watching satellites zip about their business too. Won't forget it.
chris
Thanks!
Yeah won't forget it anytime soon, almost surreal. Will be doing the same a few times this year.
Snowdon Horseshoe this weekend on Sunday, no sleepover thus time as I'm with two others. These are all firsts for me and I don't really plan on reapeating anything this year.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Haha, was I really that late, Kev? Whoops, sorry. Although actually it was all deliberate so that you'd have some time with nature, to reflect on the vastness of the universe.

But yeah, when I slept out on Crib Goch the sky was really clear. In fact I only got a few hours sleep because I was just staring at the stars for most of the night.

Have a great time this weekend, Chris! I hope the weather holds out for you :)

PS: Get your profile pic sorted out!!

I think we were due to meet around 9pm? Ended up being more like 3/4am from memory. Just the 6-7 hours late. Time enough to turn around and drive back to Surrey! It's all good though. Great stargazing and did manage to get a little bit of shuteye too.
Brave_Dave
Haha. I'd genuinely forgotten that I was that late. Oh man. At least you got some sleep 'cos I sure as hell didn't, hence the pain once we were on our final ascent 24 hours later.
