Just posting a "here I am" post, enjoy your videos Dave. Going back (yet.yet.yet again) to Snowdon weekend after next, must admit been to plenty of other places but Snowdon for some reason has a special place in my soul. Anyway my name's Lee I'm pretty wrecked after too many years abusing myself and for a "mountain walker" have an innate fear of heights which can be problematic at times which is one of the reasons I've never done Crib (unfortunately)

Probably going to go up the Watkin or the one that sort of starts by the TIps Quarry and joins up with the Rhyd. Will see when I get there, nice to join the forums and keep up the good work Dave,

Hi

I have been back 4 weeks and 4 days from Snowdonia, stayed at the foot of the mountain and walked it 3 times during the stay. The Rhyd Ddu path was literally out of our back door. Did the Watkin on the last day in very windy weather and then walked back to cottage by the Rhyd Ddu path, absolutely fantastic! I am missing it so much and am having to make do with loads of Dave's vids. I am with you on Crib Goch though, not sure I am that brave not matter how many times Dave 'runs' across it I don't feel any more reassured I would make it ha!

Have you done the South Ridge. I have 2 dogs so have to be careful to research the terrain before tackling routes. If so what is it like?

Haha. At some point all the scared-of-heights people on this forum should gather together and I'll lead you all up Crib Goch. Slow and steady, on a clear sunny day. It would be quite the experience. For you lot, because you're overcoming your fears, and for me, because I'm leading what is potentially a coiled spring of potential disaster when one or more of you freak out and a storm rolls in :P

Also, hi Lee!

To be honest it is more likely that I would apply my three points of contact to you!, so I would definitely be more worried about you. Keep ending up finding bloody rescue vids on Youtube along it which is not massively reassuring. I am not a gifted scrambler but would certainly be happier with someone who knows what they are doing (I think).

The vid of the passing freight train was amazing by the way. Looking forward to lunchtime to see what else I can find.

Lol lead me/others over Crib and I'll shout you a night in the pub! , it's a strange thing when I was younger (in the army) the heights although I was wary never bothered me that much but as I get older the worse it gets, as they say it's not the height that bothers me it's hitting the ground at 70mph that's the problem......
LakelandGoat
Lead a party of cowardly strangers over a knife edge and then face a night in the pub, he truly is BraveDave ha! and yes I am with you, not really the height part it is the ground part, don't like being under pressure to make the moves either but who knows, might manage it next time I get to Snowdon?
LakelandGoat
Bored!!!

With what? I'm just counting the days until Saturday when I get to go up Snowdon again and the weather report is looking good with plenty of snow at the summit...
LakelandGoat
being sat at my desk ha! Lucky you, don't think it is going to be all that good for me in the Lakes but fingers crossed it turns to snow rather than just rain. Haven't checked the forecast today yet, normally on the webcams and weather reports every hour. Is Snowdonia near for you then?
Signal11th
Not that near about a 2 hour drive (depending on time of departure) from the Mids. If I leave at 5:30am I can be there for around 7:15 if I'm lucky and start before the throng turns up.
LakelandGoat
That's not too bad. Lakes is only about an hour and a half for me to reach most areas other than the far western fells which is a shame as they are some of my favourites. Just getting to know Snowdonia. Managed 3 and half times to the summit in the 2 weeks we were there end of September which was great. Shame no one told us the Snowdon Sherpa doesn't run on the busiest walking day of the week - Sundays?!?!?! nice extra 3 mile walk at the end of a long day. We also rescued a couple at the bottom of the Ranger path who were parked at Llanberis! My other half and the couple sat at the pub in Rhyd Ddu while I went for the car. When we got them back to the top of the pass their lights had been on all day! Managed to get it started down hill and all was well. Can't wait to get back there. What route will you be doing?
