Hi guys,

A friend and I are planning on going up snowdon in October/November time. My question is, what is the weather generally like at that time of year?

We'd like to go up in the snow but I'm worried this may be a tad early?

I've tried looking online but I can't seem to find anything that isn't a live forecast.

Thanks in advance!

I doubt there will be snow at that time of year, especially with climate change making the winter come later and later. For snow you'll want January/February most likely.

The weather in Oct/Nov will probably be similar to how it is any other time, i.e. sometimes clear, sometimes rainy, sometimes windy. Mountain weather tends to just do its own thing :P The biggest difference will be that the day will be shorter and you'll have a lot less light for doing things compared to if you went earlier. So make sure you pack head torches with spare batteries, even if you're not planning to be out after dark!

The first straight answer I've got, thanks!

Well, it's also the first answer you've got as well :P Or did you ask it on a load of other forums too?

As Dave said, last year there was snow around the 17/19th of November , they had a little a couple of days back but it does seem to get later and later as time goes on. If there's snow take some grips as I forgot mine last year and although it's doable I had a couple of "Ooh feck" moments.

Apparently there's a load of snow up there right now! Snow and ice and freezing rain. Damn it, I was hoping to go up in the next couple of weeks. I don't mind snow on the ground but horizontal sleet wouldn't be so fun.

Couple of photo's from the 17th/19 last year.

Went up the weekend just gone, fair amount on the top and around 100metres below summit but not as bad as last year, just soooo many people there this year...

Great pics, Signal! And yeah, you went up on a weekend. Of course there's tons of people up there ;) I'm hoping for another camp up there sometime soon, so I can get up early and avoid the crowds.
