In order to help organize a few topics here and there so that people don't have to search a lot, this was an autorack ride I pulled from Brunswick, GA to a small town of Odum - as it went past my intended destination of Jesup. In fact, my Playsport zx5 camera ran out of battery life after I reached a railroad bridge that crossed over the CSX main drag below.

In order to accompany the video, I went and re-did a song from the Matrix movie, "Clubbed to Death" by Rob Dougan. The entire song is played backwards while forward beats are included. I have went back and forth between Audacity and Vegas Pro to sort out all the beats and stuff. The results and even the work-around of YouTube's Content ID policy was magnificent. The music video of mine shows at least 6 minutes of highlights, while you will see more of it toward my "night/TRAIN" movie I am working on at this point.

NOTE: Autoracks like this will strongly require the three-points-of-contact rule being you have to transfer your body from the inside of an autorack to the outside ladder; I think I included that part toward the end. It will take practice and safety to achieve getting off one of these alive! It's best to practice when it is not rolling.

Enjoy, and cheers!

(PS) Brave Dave, one day you'll thank me for giving you an option like this next time you ever ride anywhere in North America, even Canada. :)

Wow, I had no idea you could ride those things! That's great, I'm planning a trip in the northeast USA and that'll help me out a ton. I see those all the time. Are they all just unlocked though? You can just open it up and climb right in?

Only the ones that have just trailer rods are the ones you can open easily. Check each reporting mark on the sides, CTTX is the most common. You also have to check for latches between the end doors and look for any latches on the bottom, because that is where you may find a seal. If there is no seal at all, that means it is clearly empty. If you do ride one of these, do not try to bail off during movement because the doors will open outward and block you from trying to get to the outside. It is best to get off when it stops.

The rest of them will require a large ratchet to open. I got one that weighs almost 7.5 pounds.

Ahhh, that makes sense. Thanks!
