WHAT TO EXPECT
How serious are you about wanting to learn to navigate?

If the answer is "Very!" then I may well have the perfect course for you! Check it out...

When you're new to navigation the thought of trying to make sense of a map and compass can be quite intimidating. A single day course can be a good way to begin understanding the basics of navigation but before you know it the day is over and you're heading home, your new skills still fresh in your head but with you unable embed them even deeper with more practice.

What you really need is a multi day, intensive navigation training course which gives you as much time as you need to master the basics and then build upon them to advance your skills faster than you thought possible.

"Find Yourself" is designed to turn beginners into confident navigators over the course of an intensive but very fun 48 hours.

And the best bit? You don't need to worry about accommodation! We'll be based in a mountain lodge, on the mountain itself, off the grid and miles from anywhere, meaning that you are in the perfect location for learning, practicing and honing your skills.

Being based in a comfortable lodge with electricity, gas and hot water is absolutely ideal because even if the weather is wet and windy we can spend all day out on the mountain knowing that we're heading back to hot showers, hot food and a couple of beers. And having two nights on the mountainside means that night navigation practice is an absolute given.

A basic breakdown of the full course is as follows:

Day 1: Meet up in the early afternoon and hike to the lodge. Unpack. Introductions. Navigation overview and theory before heading out onto the mountain and doing lots of practice. Get back to the lodge. Showers. Food. Introduction to night/micro navigation. Bed.

Day 2: Up nice and early. Breakfast. Pack kit. Head out onto the mountain again for a full day of lots and lots of navigation practice. Get back to the lodge. Showers. Food. More night/micro navigation. Back to the lodge. Barbecue/bonfire/beers.

Day 3: Morning dip in the stream for those brave enough. Breakfast. Pack up kit. Head back to cars. Home.

This really is the perfect course for anyone who is serious about learning to navigate; 48 hours of as much navigation practice as you can handle, two nights of quality accommodation and an adventure out on the mountain itself. Do not miss out!
FITNESS AND EXPERIENCE
Even though we won't be moving very fast or walking super long distances we will still be out on the mountain for most of the day so reasonable fitness will be needed to make the most of your time out there.

You don't need to have had any previous navigation experience to do this course as it is designed for beginners. If you've done the basics before then great! The start of this course will serve as a refresher for you before advancing your skills into new territory.
ACCOMMODATION
Crashpad Lodges is completely unique and has to be seen in person to be properly appreciated. If "remote mountain lodge" makes you think of a damp, old barn with a couple of scratty camp beds and a bucket then put your mind at ease because this lodge is top of the range! It has three bedrooms (sleeping 5, 5 and 6), three toilets/showers, a cosy social area, dining room and a fully-equipped kitchen. Check out the run-through video I made!
ESSENTIAL KIT
A full kit list will be sent to you upon booking. Plot twist: You'll have to carry everything you bring for 1km to even reach the lodge! So pack smart :P
