WHAT TO EXPECT
This course is aimed at complete beginners and people who might have done a bit of navigation in the past but didn't properly grasp it and need a refresher. Now you have the chance to really understand the art of map reading!

I will teach you the basic essential skills for navigating on marked paths and tracks and even off-path!

You will learn about map scales, the grid system and grid references, map symbols, Public Right Of Way, contour lines, how to take bearings, how to walk on bearings, identifying large features, techniques such as hand railing and catching features, and route cards.

By the end of this course you should have a solid grasp of how to confirm where you are on a map and how to plot safe and efficient routes to your next destination.

A basic level of fitness is required as we will be walking on the mountain for most of the day.

You do not need to have had any navigation experience in order to do this course. I'll teach you everything you need to know!
