Hello!

Does anyone have experiance hopping the northern bits of the union pacific railway? I am planning on going from Oakland to Eugene and am looking for info before I actually go. Are there any dangerous tunnels like what Dave experianced in his big fat frieght hop? This will be my first trip, so how long can I expect this to take? And what is the most important stuff for me to bring in my kit? Also, does anyone know good places to catch out of Oakland/Eugene or other places between them as well as what radio frequencies I should pay attention to?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer!

Never mind.. I found openrailwaymaps.com a bit ago which answered some of my questions. Thats with StP and I'm almost set.

I definately will do the best that is humanly possible. ie: only catching out on stationary trains and never even touch suicide cars.

Catching a moving train isn't so bad as long as you know what you're doing and you're not having to run at maximum speed. But yeah, stationary trains are a better option if possible :P

See if you can open the bottom container on intermodals as well so you dont get wet
