The inspirations you have here is a lot similar to mine. As long as you don't blame them for hurting yourself, everything should be pretty cool! My inspirations:

Shoestring
Brave Dave
Beau Patrick Conlon

There is one more thing I like to add since you said you seek to come up with some of your own takes of the exciting, glorious world of freighthopping. If you think you can't afford a 4K GoPro, have you given thought to buying a refubished one and testing it out? I obtained a refurbished Kodak Playsport zx5 for $100 and it works nicely! That gives me more documenting time since my smartphone only goes between 15 to 25 minutes.

Haha, if I get injured on the tracks I don't think I'll be blaming people whose videos I watched on YouTube. Unless of course I'm actually with them at the time and they were the ones who pushed me.

Do you know of any other hobos who have their own channels? Everything else seems to be documentaries about hobos, rather than by the hobos themselves.

Great list, been subscribed to all their channels as well as yours for a while now and they have some awesome videos. I haven't seen the blogs however so will be checking those out. Thanks for the list!
Brave_Dave
No problem! Shoestring's stories are well worth reading. I really like the one where he just buys a bike and cycles through Alaska. Or just randomly joins a fishing boat and spends 6 months out at sea. The guy's had a pretty interesting life!

I am honored that you would mention wingman's stories. In light of the interest, below I have linked a short read on riding the Canadian Pacific in 2013 (through the site you linked). Perhaps a rendezvous will be in order this coming warm up with a few of you adventurous types.

Hey Lingcod, good looking out on that video, it looked like maybe he was with stobe on that trip, cool. Cant wait for it to warm up so I can't take a little trip. Couple more months yet. Are you from the east coast by chance?
Brave_Dave
John, is that you? Good to have you around! I've embedded your YouTube video into your post, rather than having it link out, so it's easier to watch :)

Also link me to a pic you want for your profile pic. I read your profile and you say that your pics are too big to upload. I'll sort the pic for you. Away with the anonymous grey!

West coast is where i live. Planning some shorty trips around the pacific northwest before a longer trip this summer. Not riding as much as I want but a short film capturing the epic scenery in Oregon is planned. Interesting email you received after an earlier post about a prospective Hali-van trip. Maybe CP will make a deal to run a train with an empty box for all hobo's willing to sign a release of liability. I wager a twelver of Molson we could get a railcop to show up on the dot at any given location planned on this forum.
lingcod
Yes its me. Can you link the pic of wingman above? Glad to be aboard this forum. Great source for rail enthusiasts.

Another one I forgot to add, I am not sure if he is retired, but I do know two things. (1) he is learning to drive big rigs and (2) he also had a long history of riding miles of rail. Here's one of Ron Woods' vids...

Hey Dave 'n Friends!

Don't know if any of y'all know about Trevor Jacob (aka GKCFilms and now simpley TOPO on Youtube.) He was an Olympic snowboarder, professional dirtbike rider and BMXer. He did two freight hopping and hitchhiking trips. One from New York City to Los Angeles (or elsewhere in SoCal) and his second video featured him riding out from Los Angeles up to Salt Lake City, then looped around the desert and back to LA. Problem is, his channel underwent major cosmetic surgery and both videos have since been removed. Its been a few months or so of me writing this message since they've been deleted. I was wondering if you had seen them, or if you knew how to get them back in any way.

Thank y'all!

Hi Jake. I've never heard of Trevor Jacob but his videos sound interesting! I'd watch them if they were available. Shame they've been removed. Surely your best bet is to contact Trevor himself through his YouTube channel and ask? If they come back then make sure you post them on here :)
Vidorian83
Can you guys come to beaumont texas?
Vidorian83
Show me the rails eh? i jumped em when i was 10-17 but just around the area. Come on over guys, hot meal, some cash, and a good time ill give in return :)
Brave_Dave
Hmm, it's a tempting offer, Vidorian. "Fly to the States to meet a stranger from the Internet for a good time" used to be on my bucket list, but I crossed it off back in 2005 :P
