Hi, I'm Brave Dave. I like doing stuff, I like filming the stuff that I do and I like editing the film of the stuff that I gone done and did.
I'm an English guy in my 30's and I have yet to work out my place in this big ol' world. I'm not married, I don't have any kids and I've never had a proper "career" job (I've always been self-employed). Stuff like mortgages and pension plans are completely foreign to me. The finer things in life don't bother me either which is just as well because I never seem to have much money.
My favourite thing is being outside. I like to travel and to explore. I also don't mind roughing it a bit.
However I'm not some outdoor adventure expert or anything. I just like going off and doing things and seeing what happens. I believe that this is known as "winging it".
Whereas having no consistency or financial security can really suck, my lack of adult responsibilities does have its perks. For example I'm able to go away for long periods of time and at short notice (when I have money) and I don't have limited leave or need permission from a boss to do so. I'm also able to do relatively risky things, more so than if I had kids or other people depending on me. I figure I may as well take advantage of this whilst I still can.
So What's The Deal With This Website?
IAmBraveDave.com is a place for me to put all my videos and other material so that they're a bit more organised than just being on a YouTube channel. Seeing as how I'm a web designer it would be silly of me to not have a self-made homepage.
Didn't This Site Used To be Called "Modest Adventures"?
Yeah, it did. I originally chose the name "modest adventures" because... well... my adventures are modest! Like I already said, I'm not super-hardcore extreme. I'm just an ordinary guy who still hasn't really figured out his place in life.
An adventure doesn't have to be death-defying or something that's never been done before. An adventure can be anything, just as long as it gets you off your fat, sweaty arse and gets your heart pumping.
Anyway, that's irrelevant now because in October 2015 I changed the domain name to IAmBraveDave. This is because... well... I'm Brave Dave.
Why "Brave Dave"?
Because it rhymes. And it sounds better than "Courageous David". No, actually I'm not particularly brave, it's just that "Brave Dave" has been my nickname since way back at uni when, as a wise and sensible 19 year old fresher, I used to sometimes get to my room on the third floor by climbing up the outside of the building via the balconies. I specifically remember that to get from one level to the next required a jump where both my hands would leave the bricks. One little slip and I'd have been called Wheelchair Dave instead. It kind of makes me cringe to think about it.
Fortunately I didn't slip. Hoorah!
Okay, enough from me. Now go and watch some videos
No, seriously, go and watch some videos
